Ivy Bush Royal Hotel (Nights 1 & 2)

This historic 3 star property is located in the centre of the West Welsh town of Carmarthen, ideally located for visiting all the local attractions. Once the favoured retreat of Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton, this hotel has been sympathetically extended over the years. There is an extensive bar/lounge in which to relax and a large restaurant. Each of the 70 bedrooms is traditionally decorated with hairdryer, TV and tea/coffee making facilities. There is a lift to all floors, but please note there are steps to some rooms from the lift.


Treacys Hotel (Nights 3, 4 & 5)

The 3 star Treacy’s Enniscorthy is a family run hotel located across the river from the town centre. The hotel offers a popular traditional bar, known locally for its entertainment called ‘Temple Bar’. Meals are served in the elegant Bagenal Harvey Restaurant. The 57 bedrooms are extremely comfortable and contain hairdryer, TV and tea/coffee making facilities.


Celtic Royal Hotel (Nights 6 & 7)

The traditional 3 star Celtic Royal Hotel is located near Bangor, Gwynedd, and prides itself on its fabulous, award winning standards of customer service. The hotel offers 110 rooms, each equipped with hairdryer, TV and tea/coffee making facilities. The chic Brasserie Draco restaurant provides a Mediterranean inspired menu and the stylish wood-panelled Summit Y Copa Bar & Bistro is a perfect place to relax after dinner or enjoy a lighter menu. The hotel also offers an indoor swimming pool, spa bath, sauna and steam room.

Day 1

Arrival in South Wales
We will have free time on arrival to take a stroll around the pleasant town (our hotel is located in the middle of town) before dinner.


Day 2

National Botanic Gardens of Wales
After breakfast we make our way to the National Botanic Gardens of Wales. The gardens are both a visitor attraction and a centre for research and conservation, and feature the world's largest singlespan glasshouse. We will have time to walk around and discover the natural beauty of South Wales. The highlights to look out for include three lakes, a Japanese garden and a Bog garden, along with a Double Walled Garden and the Tropical House. We will then return to our hotel for dinner.

Day 3

Off to Ireland via Picton Castle
We will have an early breakfast today and drive to Picton Castle. It is truly a unique property, being half castle and half fortified manor house, surrounded by stunning gardens. We will then continue onto Fishguard and board our ferry to Ireland. We will make our way to Enniscorthy and settle into our hotel prior to dinner this evening.

Day 4

Kilkenny & Smithwick's
After breakfast, we will travel to Medieval Kilkenny where we will spend our day.In the afternoon we will visit the Smithwick's Experience, located in the Medieval Mile. Stroll through the centuries in this interactive tour followed, of course, by a tasting before returning to our hotel for dinner.

Day 5

Waterford Crystal and Railways
Today we head for Ireland's oldest city, Waterford. We can take time to explore this interesting city. We may then decide to take a stroll along the quay and visit one of the many traditional pubs and cafes, before visiting the new House of Waterford Crystal, now located in the city centre. In the afternoon we will visit the Waterford & Suir Valley Railway. This family friendly railway runs mostly along the picturesque banks of the River Suir offering views of the world famous Mount Congreve Gardens.

Day 6

Farewell Ireland - Off to North Wales
This morning, we will say goodbye to Enniscorthy and visit the beautiful Powerscourt Gardens in County Wicklow -one of the most beautiful gardens in Ireland - before then making our way to Dublin Port and boarding our ferry to Holyhead. We arrive at the Celtic Royal Hotel, Caernarfon and settle in prior to dinner.

Day 7

7 Ffestiniog Railway
After breakfast we will travel through the spectacular scenery of the Snowdonia National Park, to the seaside town of Porthmadog, to board the train on the Ffestiniog Railway. Sit back and relax as we enjoy the 13 mile journey with dramatic views of the mountains, lakes and waterfalls. Our coach will then meet us and we will travel to Betws-y-Coed, where we will have free time to explore this pretty town and its lovely quaint shops and traditional pubs. We will then return to our hotel for dinner.

Day 8

After breakfast, we will leave our hotel and begin our journey home.
